Austin and Ally- Finale Review

Hello everybody!!

Well that's it. It's all over!! Austin and Ally has come to an end after four amazing years!! This ending is very sad for me. Not only is it the end of this amazing show, it is also the end of my Disney era. I am still watching Girl Meets World, but that is from a different era for this channel. It is not one I started in my childhood.

So here are my thoughts for the finale (SPOILERS BELOW!!!!!):

The first half: This was really good, but none of it really hit me in the feels. Seeing the four fight was pretty sad, but I knew they would reconcile by the end of the hour. I was extremely happy to see Raini get a song though!! The end of the episode with the proposal felt a little forced for me, but I was still happy to see an Auslly proposal :)

The second half: This half was where the finale shined. After we find out that the proposal was not true, just editing done by Dez years after the first half to make up for the sad fact the two broke up years earlier. The fact that Auslly had broken up the first thing that really hit me in the finale. This was actually very realistic given the time jump, but was still hard for me to hear. Now personally, I loved the path the writers chose with the four year time jump. I appreciated getting to see the group still being friends for the most part after 4 years.
Seeing Auslly return to the Hellen show was the next thing that hit me. After four years, the show went back to where it started. This made me so happy. Seeing the gang go back here, I just loved it. On the show, the tension between Auslly is real. However, then they talk and decide to sing a song Ally had written for Austin called two in a million. This song was fabulous, and may have been my favorite song of the series!! Once the two sing, they admit the love they still have for each other and agree to get back together and join as an official singing duo. About time.
Finally, in the final moments, the viewers are treated to a ten year flash forward. This scene was the best for me. Knowing Auslly got married, but not having it be rushed in the end was a very smart decision on the writers' part. Also, Dez and Carrie together was wonderful! All the jokes about Dez and Trish's children made me very happy.
And finally, we see Auslly returning to the practice room. The room from their teen years where they spent all of their time. We see the two returning to the piano where they used to write all of their songs. Ally asks Austin if he "remembers this one?" and begins to play the theme of the show. This got me the hardest. Hearing this slow version of the theme of the show was so sad.

I will always love this show and the romance and friendships on it. I have really enjoyed the four years I have watched it. I love you, Austin and Ally!!

Until next time Fanboys and Fangirls, Broadcast Books
