I was a little worried after the pilot, but it ended up being a great show!!
I am going to review the show overall first and then go more in depth with spoilers after, so be warned if you have not seen the entire show!!
O.K. so fuller house was definitely more mature than full house was. I would not suggest letting your five year old watch it alone, but it was great for teens (like me) and adults that grew up with the old show!! A lot of the jokes were actually quite much if you understood it. Now I have seen every episode of the old show, and I will say this one is quite different. The focus is more on the adults and less on the kids. However, we still get many great scenes with just the kids and between the kids and the women. Overall if you are hesitant to watch it, go in knowing the pilot is there for fans to see all of their favorite characters again, but that after that the show grows into something much more!
Now onto spoilers:
SPOILERS BELOW!!
you have been warned....
Pilot thoughts: I enjoyed the pilot for the most part. this episode really brought the nostalgia and was really for fans of the original. It was pretty cheesy, but still really good. I am, however, shocked that they threw so much shade at the Olsen twins. I know how this cast feels about each other, and that seemed completely uncalled for and out of character for both the actors and characters.
Episode 2: The only thing I really have to say about this episode is that it was the beginning of what the show was. Also it was interesting to see how the writers and cast brought back the plot of the first shows pilot.
Episode 3: This one shocked me. I could not believe how sexual and mature it got! I would not show this episode to any 5 year olds watching. It mainly takes place in a club, with lots of drinking and sexual dancing.
Episode 4: O.K. this was the episode when I truly felt this as a show and really began to enjoy this. This was the one where I really got into the show. I liked seeing more of the kids and more of the women as a parental figure.
Episode 5: This episode killed me emotionally. The reveal at the end of the episode that Stephanie could not have kids had me in tears. After seeing Steph grow so close to these kids, it was especially hard. Warning to parents: this one featured quite a lot of drinking and revealing dresses too. However, it was great to know that even in the midst of this big party, Steph was still so caring for Max.
Episode 6: Not much to say about this one except that it was great and that I love mother D.J.
Episode 7: This was the episode with Romona's birthday. Now this was was great, but I couldn't believe the ending. Kimmy kissing Fernando was very unexpected, but I enjoyed the direction it went. Also, the D.J. love triangle is really beginning to develop!!
Episdoe 8: This episode saw Max and Jackson's relationship with their Grandpa Danny and I loved it!! Also, D.J. and the gals are really getting back into the love scene. This did kind've surprise me. I was not expecting this much couples drama in this show being marketed as a kids show.
Episode 9: 1,000 roses. This was fully focused on who sent which woman these roses. Once again, I was a little surprised at how much this was focusing on the lady's love lives. It was GREAT, however, to see Harry return as Steph's "husband".
Episode 10: This was the episode where the gang went to the baseball game. I highly enjoyed this episode. However, I was not too impressed with the ending. I would have never thought that D.J. would be dating two men at once. This went farther than most love triangles in that D.J. is actually dating both men. This seemed highly out of character for her and I was surprised the writers brought it here.
Episode 11: The D.J. love triangle continues and her boss retires. So glad though that D.J. followed her dream.
Episode 12: After quick remarks about D.J.'s date with Matt, we get to see all of her date with Steve. I realize this was for fans of the original (and I loved seeing it) but it just seemed weird we didn't see her date with Matt too. This episode really made me remember how great Steve and D.J. are together. Team Steve all the way!! Kimmy and Fernando also get divorced and engaged after a kiss between her and Steph.
Episode 13: The finale. The gang gathers for Jesse and Becky to renew their vows. Why they were doing this was never really explained. Kimmy also decides to just tag her wedding on after the renewal. After a bachelorette party (once again the ladies are drunk. Thanks Netflix) the wedding commences, officiated by Joey. It was great seeing Jesse and Becky renew their vows on thier 25th wedding anniversary. The scene was really focused on Kimmy's decision. I thought she made the right one, to not remarry Fernando. She had been wanting to divorce him for 2 years!! I think she rushed into the rekindling a little to fast. Also, random side note, I loved seeing the girls eat cake!! Finally, we get to see what D.J. chooses. Who gets the final rose? Neither of the boys, D.J. decides to wait and giver herself more time. This was the perfect decision, in my opinion. She only just started dating again after LOSING HER HUSBAND!! It would have been way too fast for D.J. to commit to one of the boys. While I want her with Steve, though Matt isn't bad if she goes that way, I do not want them to rush it. Steve needs to wait until D.J. is fully ready to be married again.
I do hope to see another season of this show, and I'm sure we will. Based on the amount of buzz it has been getting, it seems unlikely we won't.
So what did you think of the show? Let me know in the comments below and also tell me what was your favorite episode? Team Matt or Team Steve? What did you think about Steph's reveal in episode 5? I want to know all your thoughts, so please, comment and we'll discuss.
