William Shakespeare's Star Wars- Review

Hi ya'll,

Book: William Shakespeare's Star Wars

Rating:4/5

This is a fantastic re-imagining of the first movie in the original Star Wars trilogy. It is written as a Shakespeare play, using old English and Iambic Parameter to the story. I applaud the author, Ian Doescher, for telling this fantastic movie in this way! I felt as if none of the movie was lost in the novel, and as is if it was not too hard to understand. I would suggest this if you just need a refresher on what happened in the movie, or if you are a die hard fan and just want to relive this amazing story.

I experienced this novel on audio book, which is the path I highly recommend you take! It includes different readers for all of the characters, all of which sound like the actors in the movie!! Adding even more to the experience is the fact that behind the actors, sound effects and songs from the movies play. Sounds of light sabers and droids can be heard. I especially loved the beginning of the audio in which the famous opening song plays until interrupted by a crowd of a play.

Overall, this is a must for any fan of the series! However, I would not recommend this as an introduction to the series. Watch the movie first, and then, whether enjoying it or not, give this book a go!

My Bookish Tastes

Hello!

Today I decided that you guys, my readers, should know the types of books I like to read. This way, you guys can know the types of books you might see reviews and recommendations for on this blog.

1)Science Fiction- I love to read about other worlds and sci fi elements.
2)Fantasy- This genre is fun  because each different book is very unique. From book to book I can expect a new magic system and world.
3)Contemporary- Sometimes I want a quick read that could actually happen. I don't always want to have to distinguish a new world and magic system. These are great especially when I'm feeling slumpy.
4)Historical Fiction- These are cool books to read because I get exposed to different events and times other than my own.
5) Thriller/Mystery- Finally, I like this genre because I know they're always going to be fast paced and keep me on the edge of my seat, needing to know what is going to happen next.

Well, those are my favorite genres. Stay tuned for my end of the year reading wrap up posts coming soon!

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire- Review

Hey Ya'll,
Today I am here to review the fourth Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
Surprisingly, this is the first time I have read this book. I never read these books when I was younger. Well now that I am 15, I am finally deciding to read them. SO without farther ado, my review.                                                                                                                                                            Rating: 5/5
Characters: As always, the characters are awesome! I love the main trio, but even the side characters. I especially enjoyed Harry's fellow champions.

Plot: The plot of this novel was my favorite of the books so far. Seeing Harry compete to win this championship was very entertaining for me. Especially the final task, as it reminded me very much of the series finale of Wizards of Waverly Place. For those of you that have seen that show and read this book, I'm sure you know what I am talking about. However the reason this book pulled ahead for me in the series, becoming my favorite installment so far, happened after the final task. For those that have read this book, you will know the anticipation I had while reading these chapters. I could not believe what was happening. Adding the Quiditch World Cup in added to my love of this book.

Writing: Mrs. Rowling has a very clear way of writing. As I read these books, it is very easy for me to picture all of Hogwarts and the characters.

Well that's about all I have to say for this book. Sorry this review was kind've skimpy. I just needed to write a little something to show you guys my love for this book and tell you to, if you haven't already, Read This Series!!!

Favorite Current TV Shows

Hey Ya'll,

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!! Today I am here to share with you my top ten favorite shows that are currently on the air! I am going to try to put these shows in an order, but the ones towards the middle fluctuate a lot, so the order may change after this posing.

At number 10 is Dance Moms, which airs on Lifetime. The only reality show on this list, Dance Moms is just fun to watch. The drama in this show is sometimes super unrealistic, but for some reason it is just so fun to watch these ladies scream at each other in between the beautiful dances.

Number 9 is a new favorite of mine, Jane the Virgin. This is a show that started last TV season on the CW. This show is fun to watch because there is a lot of drama (sometimes uneeded) and a great love triangle if you're into that. Basically, this show is just a fun one that prides itself on it's telenovela format.

Next up at number 8, Switched at Birth. I started this show when it was entering it's third season. I had binged the first two seasons the month previous. I have to say, this show has great family moments, which is one of the reasons I love it. This show did used to be higher on my list, but has slipped some in the fourth season. I love this show because of the characters. Bay is a great independent girl I can't help but love. For those wondering, season 2 is my favorite.

My 7th favorite show is Arrow. This show is great, but I will admit it's a little dark. My favorite thing about this show is Felicity. She is a great character that I can relate to a lot, being the nerdy person I am.

Next up is Once Upon a Time. This is such a great show because it re-imagines a lot of my favorite fairy tales. This show is great for any Disney lovers like myself out there. It definitely has its ups and downs (I'm looking at you Neverland season) but the characters are great (especially Belle) and there always is some plotline i'm enjoying.

On to the final five! Girl Meets World is up at number 5. I Love this show! As you may know from my favorite ended shows post, Boy Meets World is one of my favorite shows ever! Girl Meets World is a great follow up to that show! While it is criticized for not having as deep of stories as Boy, I do not think this is so. If you look at the first two seasons of each show, Girl actually has deeper plots. I believe that as Girl continues, the plots will get deeper and more mature.

Numbers 4 and 3 were the hardest for me to place. I finally decided to place The Fosters at number 3. I love this show so much! I think it covers controversial topics today very well. However, there is one plot line that is being dragged out a little too long (Brallie) and should be ended. I still love the show and all the characters. I would highly recommend this show.

Ok guys. Top 3 time!! At number 3 is Teen Wolf. My best friend actually got me into this show. When I started watching this show the first time, I didn't really like it. Same thing the second time. However, the third time was the charm. I fell in love and watched all of season one in just a few days. I did not enjoy season two as much though and slowed way down (it is my least favorite season). Season 3 picked back up for me. 3B especially is amazing. Season 4 is when I truly fell in love, however. I fell in love with every single character and the plot was so intriguing to me. This show may be a little cheesy, but it is so good and impossible not to watch once it hooks you :)

At number 2 is a show that holds a very special place in my heart, Doctor Who. I started watching the old episodes when I was 5. My dad had heard a new version was coming and wanted to introduce me to it before the new ones came on. So of course I watched and fell in love with this show. To this day, over 10 years later, I still love and watch this show all the time.

And finally, at number one, is The Flash. This show only premiered last year, but it has already shot to my top show. This show just sucks you in from the beginning. At least for me, I knew from the Pilot it was gonna be a great show. And it sure has been. This show is one of the only ones I watch live (along with OUAT and Arrow). It constantly keeps me gasping and wondering what is going to happen next. Such great writing and characters come out in this one. I absolutely love it!

Well that's it guys! My favorite current shows!! See ya'll soon to introduce you to my book side!!

Since it is Christmas tomorrow in the U.S. just thought I would write this quick post wishing everyone that celebrates it MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!! To everyone else, Happy Holidays or just have a great time of year!!

My Favorite Shows OFF the Air

Hey ya'll,

Since this blog is so new (there hasn't been a proper post yet!), I thought I would do a series of favorites posts. To start off, I am going to be doing a list of my favorite TV shows that are no longer airing new episodes. This list is in no particular order.

First off is Gilmore Girls! I absolutely LOVE this show!! It is just such a fun show to watch! Even at its saddest moments, I still know I'll be laughing at some point during the episode :) Cannot wait for the new spin off coming soon to Netflix! This show is about a mother that had her baby at 16, forming a special bond between the two.

Parenthood. Oh Parenthood. Starring Lauren Graham of Gilmore Girls, I couldn't not watch this show. However, after the pilot, I was watching for so many more reasons then just Lauren. This show is very unique, as it focuses on one family and all of the drama they encounter. This show will make you cry, yet we all need that some times. Throughout the course of the show, I found myself growing very attached to all of the characters. I highly recommend this show to everyone, for everybody can find something to love in this amazing show.

Then we have Glee. Glee is a show about a glee club full of "losers" at a school. This show was great because it always featured great covers of great songs. Plus, it was super relatable for me, because I am not at all popular in school. While many say the show loses its direction after season 3, I found season 4 to be one of its best. Highly recommend.

The next show I love and will miss deeply is Parks and Recreation. Probably the funniest show I have ever seen, Parks and Rec is a great comedy about a parks department in a government office. I miss this show so much, but am glad to know that I still have the Office to enjoy, a show made by the same creators. One of the best things this show has going for it is its format. It is made in a Mockumentary style, with the cast talking to directly to the camera quite often.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is one that I cannot say is amazing, because it isn't. There are many flaws throughout the show. The show is pretty good in its early seasons, and is hit and miss throughout its later ones. However the ending season is in my opinion the worst, and could almost be skipped all together. I have to include this show, however, because it is a classic and does have an addicting quality to it.

Smallville is the show that got me hooked on superheroes. This show tells the origin of Superman. Don't expect to see it all in the first season, however, as it takes the full ten seasons to see the flying man in tights. All in all a great show that really set the stage for the amazing superhero shows on TV today.

Next up are my two favorite sitcoms from TGIF. Boy Meets World is probably my favorite show of all time (followed closely by Gilmore Girls and Parenthood). This show follows a boy growing up in the world. "Meeting" it if you will ;) I think the lessons one learns throughout this show are all very important and are greatly woven in through the show. Plus, once this one ends, one can go on to watch Girl Meets World, the great continuation.

Full House is the other great sitcom that came from ABC's TGIF lineup in the 80s and 90s. This show follows Danny after his wife dies. Danny recruits his brother in law Jesse, and his best friend Joey to raise his three daughters. What this results in is a great show full of laughs over 8 years. Soon to be followed by Fuller House coming to Netflix in February.

The final two shows I want to talk about are from my childhood. The first being iCarly. This show is about three kids making a webshow. What else can I say, really? Great show for kids.

Finally, I want to mention Wizards of Waverly Place. This kick started Selena Gomez's career, showing her and her two siblings playing young wizards in training. Great show for kids, but with a more family aspect that iCarly lacks.

OK well that's it :) Hope everyone enjoyed reading about my favorite shows off the air! Come back soon for my favorite TV show still airing, favorite books of all time, favorite books of 2015, and most anticipated books of 2016. Plus reviews of books and TV shows once they start coming back.
